The Old Cabin

Here and there, throughout the land, there are remnants of our country’s early history, surviving quietly on someone’s back acres. Perhaps an old cabin, cherished and maintained, providing a link to our past. It stands, waiting quietly for someone to come by, to sit on its porch, to walk through its door, to hear its story, to feel its history and its gift to the future.

Morning Mist

Morning mist

illusions at dawn.

A sleepy vision

slipping away.

A wandering mind

that touched another's

from a distant land

and a forgotten time.

"Hurry," she whispered

"step through."

But I had awakened.

A dream

...perhaps

There is a place between sleep and awake, a place where you are in both places at once. In this place, anything is possible, and everything is real. But being here is tenuous and fragile, and like a spider's web dancing in the wind, your hold on it can break at any moment. You suddenly find yourself firmly rooted back in the waking world, yet your memory is clear and vibrant and you know, that for a moment, you touched something else.
